In order for STP to stay abreast of the testing trends that directly impact the community, we need to hear from individuals who take care to reflect on how we are talking, growing, innovating and conferring on the software testing industry. In order to meet this need, we have formed a Community Advisory Board (CAB). Members of the CAB help to provide timely feedback on new testing trends, concepts, tools and techniques to the STP leadership. CAB members also serve as a proxy for the voice of the community, curators of the conference programs, facilitators of online learning services and generally encourage member communication and collaboration.

Mark Tomlinson is a performance engineering and software testing consultant. His career began in 1992 with a comprehensive two-year test for a life-critical transportation system, a project which captured his interest for software testing, quality assurance, and test automation. That first test project sought to prevent trains from running into each other — and Mark has metaphorically been preventing “train wrecks” for his customers for the past 20 years. He has broad experience with real-world scenario testing of large and complex systems and is regarded as a leading expert in software testing automation with a specific emphasis on performance. For the majority of Mark’s career he has worked for companies as a testing practitioner and consultant using the leading products for performance testing, profiling and measurement. He has also consistently established close ties and relationships with the major vendors who create these tools. Mark worked for six years at Microsoft Corporation as a performance consultant and engineer in the Microsoft Services Labs, in the Enterprise Engineering Center and in the SQL Server labs. His efforts to foster the success of Microsoft’s top-tier Enterprise customers was focused on their early adoption of Microsoft products as part of mission-critical operations. In 2008, as the LoadRunner Product Manager at HP Software, Mark led the team to deliver leading innovations for performance testing and engineering as part of HP’s suite of performance validation and management products. Mark now offers coaching, training and consulting to help customers adopt modern performance testing and engineering strategies, practices and behaviors for better performing technology systems.
Mike Lyles has over 20 years of IT experience, gaining exposure through all aspects of IT in various roles – tech support, software developer, PMO, development manager, and, ultimately, testing/QA. He has led various aspects of testing: functional testing, test environments, SCM, and Test Data Management. He currently manages Automation testing, Performance testing, and Service Virtualization efforts across all areas within his organization. Mike is an international speaker at multiple conferences, and is regularly published in testing publications and trade magazines. Mike’s passion to help others improve and grow in the field of testing, leadership, and management is his key motivation.
Smita Mishra is the founder and chief consultant at QAzone Infosystems, which is a pure-play software testing organization. She is a first generation Entrepreneur and is a Test professional who has spent over 12 years practicing testing and leading test efforts of varying sizes, cutting across all key domains and technologies. In past, she has worked with multiple organizations, likes of – HCL Technologies Ltd, Fidelity Investments, Nucleus Software Exports Ltd, Churchill Insurance (Now RBS) and led multi-million dollar testing projects, set up and maintain test centers for her customers.
In her current role, she is involved in creating test teams, managing testing for software companies, leading the overall test strategy for them. She supports her customers in identifying the risks their applications are carrying and / or passing on further to their end customers, through carefully crafted skills of software testing. She is also engaging constantly with different forums to assist growth for women in her field and otherwise too.
A context-driven scholar, professional tester for over 15 years and a thought leader, Anna is always on a quest for quality. Her passion is in discovering new techniques and creating environments that allow people to be most effective at what they do.
Anna is an international conference speaker; she is the AST Leadership SIG chair and CAST 2014 conference chair.
Jay Philips is a highly experienced leader with a focus in business intelligence and software development team building. She has successfully completed multiple large and small projects in a variety of industry domains including strict regulated financial & health care environments. Jay is the CEO & President of Project Realms, Inc., an IT consulting firm focusing on software quality. Project Realms was created because Jay found that there was a need for leadership, creation, maintenance and execution of development and testing activities Jay is also the CEO & President of TeamQualityPro, which is a real-time integrated dashboard platform used to evaluate the entire ecosystem of application projects and resources. TeamQualityPro is code agnostic so all organizations can implement a real-time executive dashboard system.
Paul Grizzaffi is the Automation Program Architect and Manager for Revenue Cycle Technology at MedAssets, a healthcare performance improvement company. His career has focused on the creation and deployment of automated test strategies, frameworks, tools, and platforms. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) from Scrum Alliance. Paul has created automation platforms and tool frameworks based on proprietary, open source and vendor-supplied tool chains in diverse product environments (telecom, stock trading, E-commerce, and healthcare). He is an accomplished speaker who has presented at both local and national meetings and conferences. Paul looks forward to sharing his experiences and expanding his automation and testing knowledge for other product environments.
Dan Downing is co-founder and Principal Consultant at Mentora Group, Inc. (www.mentora.com), a testing and managed hosting company. Dan is the author of the 5-Steps of Load Testing, which he taught at Mercury Education Centers, and of numerous presentations, white papers and articles on performance testing. He teaches load testing and over the past 13 years has led hundreds of performance projects on applications ranging from eCommerce to ERP and companies ranging from startups to global enterprises. He is a regular presenter at STAR, HP Software Universe, Software Test Professionals conferences, and is one of the organizers of the Workshop on Performance and Reliability (WOPR).
Eric Proegler has tested software performance for over 10 years, and worked in software for almost 20. He designs and conducts experiments that use synthetic load to help customers assess and reduce risk, validate architecture and engineering, and evaluate compliance with non-functional systems requirements. Eric has presented performance-testing topics at STPCon and WOPR, the Workshop on Performance and Reliability.
With a quarter-century of software and systems engineering experience, Rex Black is President of RBCS, a leader in software, hardware, and systems testing. As the leader of RBCS, Rex is the most prolific author practicing in the field of software testing today. His popular first book, Managing the Testing Process, has sold over 40,000 copies around the world, including Japanese, Chinese, and Indian releases, and is now in its third edition. He has written over 30 articles, presented hundreds of papers, workshops, and seminars, and given about 50 keynotes and other speeches at conferences and events around the world. Rex is the immediate past President of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board and of the American Software Testing Qualifications Board.
